FRIC has a vacancy for a PhD candidate within Fire safety in buildings with timber structures!
Timber can be used as a structural material in both small and large buildings and has many advantages. Buildings with timber structures can contribute to fulfilling some of the sustainable development goals set up by the United Nations. Timber is, however, combustible and can contribute to the growth and spread of fires in buildings. More knowledge is needed to fully understand the effect of the timber structure on the fire development, and to enable efficient and practical solutions to meet fire safety requirements for large buildings with timber structures.
